Chapel Hill artist collective FRANK Gallery will host its 7th annual Off the Wall Gala Saturday night to raise money for community outreach efforts and gallery operations. Attendees will have the chance to select and take home a professional piece of artwork at the end of the night.
Local artists have donated works ranging from jewelry and furniture to paintings and ceramics for the fundraiser, and all pieces will be on display at the gallery prior to the gala. The pieces, 68 in total, range in value from $350 to over $3,000.
Only 55 “Art Tickets” will be sold this year. Art Ticket holders will have the opportunity to take a piece of art “off the wall” at the gallery and bring it home with them that evening. Throughout the night, the gala’s MC will randomly draw names, allowing each ticket holder to take a turn selecting a piece of art until all ticket holders have chosen a piece.
“There’s a great selection,” says Linda Prager, artist member and gala chair at FRANK. “It’s a great party, and the excitement builds over the course of the evening, especially for the Art Ticket holders.”
A special raffle following the Off the Wall drawing includes prizes such as bottles of wine, a professional photography portrait session, ceramics and gift certificates to the gallery. Additionally, the remaining pieces that were not selected during the Off the Wall drawing will be available for purchase for the price of an Art Ticket, $450.
Proceeds from the event will help with gallery operations as well as its many local outreach programs. FRANK works with programs that support the arts for people on the autism spectrum, Burmese refugee students and more. It also partners with nonprofit groups such as the Disappearing Frogs Project and Volunteers for Youth.
Off the Wall 2017 will take place on Saturday, April 22 at 6 p.m. The “Art Ticket” is $450 and includes participation in the “Off the Wall” drawing, as well as a special raffle at the end of the night. Only one piece of art per ticket. Art Ticket holders may purchase a “Companion Ticket” for $50, but the companion may not participate in the Off the Wall portion. The “Patron Ticket” is $150 and admits two people, but only for participation in the final raffle. All tickets include specialty cocktails, dinner and dessert prepared by local chefs.
